The sights of Almaty

Almaty is a solar, comfortable, city smothered in verdure with wide streets, beautiful buildings, numerous parks, squares and fountains. The most beautiful city at bottom of emerald ridges of Tien-Shan is called "garden city" not casually.
In the spring when southern suburbs smooth in flowering apple, apricot, and cherry gardens, the city looks like a fairy tale. The magnificent green dress and a majestic panorama of mountains make Almaty unique and quite different from other cities. Gardens, groves, parks, parkways, flower beds occupy over eight thousand hectares of the city’s territory.
There is a considerable quantity of the sights in Almaty involving city visitors, and pleasing local inhabitants by their beauty.
Koktobe

It is the hilly place adjoining to the city on the south. It reaches heights of 1070 m. At the top settles down the viewing platform. It is truly the best place for the review of a night city.

Park of 28 Panfilov’s heroes

It is located across the road from hotel "Otrar". The park is known for the glory Memorial, Avenue of Memory and Eternal light.
On memory avenue 28 granite monuments are established. They represent us the names of 28 heroes-panfilovtsev who were lost in the fight for Moscow in the Second World War.

Zenkov’s Cathedral in park of 28 Panfilov’s heroes

Saint Ascension’s Cathedral designed by architect A. Zenkov was constructed without any nail in 1840.
The cathedral is one of nine most unique monuments of wooden structures in the world. Its wall paintings and interior scenery amaze imagination of visitors by its beauty and magnificence. What is remarkable that the Cathedral stood during the strongest earthquake with force of 10 points under the Richter scale in 1911.
Islamic cultural centre

In July, 1999 the new central mosque was opened in Almaty. The Islamic cultural centre of a name of Mubarak and university also work.

Medeo

The world famous high-mountainous skating rink of Medeo was constructed in 1972 in the picturesque gorge in 15 km from the city. Soft climate, sunlight optimum level, the low pressure, favorable weather conditions and ice made of crystal-clear water do Medeo one of the best skating rinks in the world.
Chimbulak
High-mountainous ski resort located at height of 2200-2500 m, in gorge Chimbulak. The resort is opened for visiting by tourists since 1954.
