Wednesday, June 28, 2017 - 18:42

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed the decree on drastic reforming of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan. This document was issued due to the fact that in recent years a number of serious issues have been revealed in the activity of this organization, especially concerning the insufficient protection of business rights and the weak development of measures aimed at improving the business climate. And as a result, the President gave out the instructions to introduce new mechanisms of legal protection that would provide for the representation of rights and interests of business entities through a cardinal revision of the main activities and priorities of the Chamber.

This structure will mainly focus on protecting the rights of business entities, improving the investment climate and business environment, facilitating business activities, interacting with public authorities, training personnel and entrepreneurs, attracting investment and foreign economic activity.

In accordance with the newly-adopted decree, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan was appointed as the authorized body that issues conclusions on the drafts of various regulatory legal acts, assessing their impact on entrepreneurial activity. Accordingly, from now on all entrepreneurship projects must be coordinated with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

In addition, plans are afoot to introduce a new procedure, according to which the controlling bodies will have to notify the Chamber in advance about the forthcoming inspections of business entities.

Worth recalling, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry is a non-profit non-governmental organization that unites business entities on a voluntary basis, regardless of their profile, status, ownership and scale of activities.
