Wednesday, June 14, 2017 - 03:11

In accordance with the decree of the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, it is planned to divide the Committee for Sports, Youth and Tourism into two separate structures. One of them will be the Committee for Development of Tourism. Its central apparatus will be financed at the expense of funds allocated from the national budget and a number of other sources, in agreement with the Ministry of Finance. Within the next two months, this body will submit a number of proposals on reforms to the normative legal acts of the republic.

In addition, 44 divisions of the new Committee will be created in the structures of the executive bodies of the local authorities of the provinces of Tajikistan, the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, the city of Dushanbe, as well as other cities and districts. As reported, the central apparatus of the Committee will have a total of 32 employees.

The structure of the Committee on Tourism will consist of two deputy chairmen (including one first deputy) and a board of 7 members. The other new structure – the Committee for Youth and Sports – can have three deputy chairmen (including one first deputy) and a board of 7 people. For both committees, there will be set limits on passenger cars, as well as other types of property necessary for their activities.

As reported previously, over the past two years, Tajikistan has made some progress in the development of its tourism industry. According to the World Economic Forum's world competitiveness index for the tourism industry, the republic has managed to climb up by 12 positions: from the 119th to the 107th. The greatest progress was observed in the categories such as “Health and Hygiene” and “Safety.”
