Presidents Of Kyrgyzstan And Russia Sign Declaration On Strategic Cooperation

In Moscow, the presidents of Russia and Kyrgyzstan, Vladimir Putin and Almazbek Atambaev, signed a Declaration on strengthening strategic partnership and allied relations between the two countries. The signing ceremony took place following the state visit of A. Atambayev to Russia and his meeting with the head of the Russian state. Both sides of the agreement reaffirmed their intentions to further develop the strategic partnership and to continue the coordination of their foreign policy activities.


“The parties will further strengthen cooperation in the sphere of ensuring joint, reliable defense in the common military-strategic space,” the declaration reads.


In addition, Russia and Kyrgyzstan will pay special attention to ensuring their food security, cooperation of enterprises and development of production specialization in the agro-industrial and water-energy complexes, machine building, transport and communications, agriculture, light industry, and the military and technical sphere.


The Presidents also noted the intention to expand cooperation in the field of combating terrorism and other violent manifestations of extremism, its financing, legalization of criminal proceeds, various forms of organized transnational crime, corruption, illicit trafficking in arms and narcotic drugs, smuggling and crimes against cultural values.


Russia and Kyrgyzstan also agreed to accelerate the work to establish the regional United Air Defense System.


According to the declaration, the leaders of the two countries highly appreciate the current level of cooperation in the military-technical and military spheres, including Russia's military and technical assistance to Kyrgyzstan.
