Japanese Sony is ready to expand its presence in Turkmenistan

Turkmen president Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Executive Vice-President of Japanese "Sony" company Shoji Nemoto who voiced several business proposals, Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported today.

According to the newspaper, "Sony" is ready to expand its presence in the Turkmen market. The further development of media's material-technical basis, delivery of communication systems, medical equipment are among the possible areas of cooperation.

The company's possible participation in preparing and holding the fifth Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat in 2017 was also discussed.

Nemoto stressed great interest of Japan's business circles in establishing the full-scale cooperation with Turkmenistan, the article says.

"Sony's innovative products affected not only to Japan's fast-growing economy, but also to the character and particularities of life in the whole world," Berdimuhamedov said during the meeting. "It has become a peculiar guarantee of quality and reliability."

The Turkmen side's readiness for viewing all received proposals for cooperation was stressed.

The prospects of business cooperation are planned to be discussed within the Turkmen president's upcoming visit to Japan. "Sony" company prepares a special expanded presentation of its last innovative products and achievements.

The parties expressed mutual confidence in successful promotion of all scheduled plans and realization of new important joint projects designed to increase economic potential of two countries.

President Berdimuhamedov's official visit to Tokyo in 2009 gave an impetus to the relations between Turkmenistan and Japan. Several intergovernmental documents and contracts were signed with JGC Corporation, ITOCHU Corporation, Kawasaki Plant Systems, Ltd и Sojitz Corporation, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries и Mitsubishi Corporation, Sojitz Corporation, Asahi Kasei Chemicals Corporation.

According to Tokyo, Japan's high technologies and Turkmenistan's rich natural resources are mutually complementary.

Several projects are implemented in Turkmenistan at the expense of Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).

Japan's supplies of modern road-building and land-digging technique are a traditional form of cooperation.
