Wednesday, June 6, 2012 - 19:14

Israeli military jets shot missiles at two targets in the Gaza Strip early Wednesday, seriously wounding three Palestinians, according to medics and eyewitnesses, dpa reported.

Witnesses said that an Israeli F-16 warplane fired one missile at a Hamas police post northwest of the Gaza Strip, and ambulances took three casualties to Shiffa Hospital in Gaza City.

Adham Abu Selmeya, Gaza emergency spokesman, told reporters that three Palestinians were seriously wounded in the Israeli airstrike on the coastal enclave.

Israeli jets carried out a second airstrike on the border area between the southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah and Egypt. A smuggling tunnel was destroyed, but no casualties were reported.

Since Friday, three Palestinian militants and one Israeli soldier have been killed in a new wave of tit-for-tat violence between Israel and Gaza militant groups.
