The Tajik border troops have received vehicles and communications equipment worth about $6 million from the United States. According to the US Ambassador to Dushanbe, Elizabeth Millard, this assistance will be used to enhance the readiness of the Tajik Border Forces in the detection and suppression of cross-border drug trafficking in the republic. In her words, the partnership of the two countries is related to mutual interest in protecting Tajikistan's borders against transnational threats, which affects security throughout the Central Asian region.



The Uzbek-Turkmen Intergovernmental Commission has agreed and approved the work plan for legal demarcation of the interstate border of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan in 2017, having intensified the talks on this topic. “A regular meeting of working groups comprising the Joint Uzbek-Turkmen Intergovernmental Commission on the issues related to the delimitation and demarcation of the state border between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan took place in Tashkent on May 1-5, 2017,” the press service of the agency reported.

In accordance with the decree signed by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on May 9, the senior officials of executive bodies of the republic shall bear personal responsibility for systemic and purposeful work aimed at creating new jobs, rendering practical assistance to enterprises in various sectors of the economy and business.


On May 7, Astana witnessed a military parade dedicated to the 72nd anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the 25th anniversary of the formation of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan.
