The Civil Service and Anti-Corruption Agency of Kazakhstan published the National Report on Combating Bribery and Corruption in 2016. According to the document, the number of persons convicted of corruption crimes amounted to 910 people, of whom 520 people were employees of the central state bodies, 238 people were local executive bodies, and 152 people were state officials. Of the employees of the central state bodies that committed corruption crimes, the majority were employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (309 people) and the Ministry of Finance (58 people).
