Russia has written off $240 million of Kyrgyzstan's debt. This was done in accordance with the document signed by the head of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, Anton Siluanov, and the Minister of Finance of Kyrgyzstan, Adylbek Kasymaliev. This protocol is an addition to the agreement on the settlement of Kyrgyzstan's debts, which was concluded by the parties on September 20, 2012.



Turkmenistan and other participants of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS) intend to develop a program of assistance to the countries situated in the Aral Sea region.


The Government of Uzbekistan fully supports the projects on the use of the Amu Darya and Syr Darya water resources (those are the two major rivers of Central Asia) that were compiled within the framework of the UN conventions. According to Deputy Foreign Minister Anvar Nasyrov, the Uzbek side is ready to participate in their discussion. In his words, the United Nations recently circulated the drafts of its two conventions on the Syr Darya and the Amu Darya, which will create a legal framework for constructive cooperation in the water sector between the countries of the region.

The lower chamber of the Kazakh parliament (the Majilis) has approved the ratification of the protocol, according to which Kyrgyzstan will receive the first tranche of the previously planned assistance (amounting to $100 million). According to the Prosecutor General, Zhakip Asanov, the tasks and principles of the work of the prosecutor's office remain the same as before: observing the rule of law and protecting the rights of citizens. However, general supervision will not be unlimited now. It will have three forms: verification, analysis and evaluation of legal acts. According to him, there will be no more endless inspections.



The law “On Amendments and Additions to Some Constitutional Laws of Kazakhstan” was signed by the President of the Republic Nursultan Nazarbayev. The press service of the head of state reported the news on June 15. The purpose of this document is to bring the current constitutional laws into line with the amendments to the Constitution. In particular, the law “On Elections” will introduce additional requirements to candidates for the post of the country's president.


As of today, Kazakhstan needs additional medical facilities and other specialized institutions designed for the compulsory treatment of alcoholics. Minister of Internal Affairs Kalmukhanbet Kasymov expressed this opinion during his meeting with the population on June 14. The Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Kazakhstan, Tamara Duisenova, has proposed to introduce the executive instructions on the facts of non-payment of salaries, which will speed up the procedure for collection of debts. This happened during the government meeting on June 13. She appealed to the Ministry of Justice with a request to consider the inclusion of the executive instructions for labor inspectors regarding the facts of non-payment of wages.
