According to Minister of Education and Science of the Republic E. Sagadiev, the colleges plan to switch to the credit-modular system. On May 9, residents of Tashkent participated in the mass-scale action “Immortal Regiment,” which is held in many countries around the world. In the near future, the Tashkent State Technical University of Abu Rayhan Beruni will undergo reorganization, according to the decree signed by President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov on May 2. This decision was taken in order to increase the level of training of highly qualified specialists, taking into account the world experience in development of engineering education. The decree also provides for establishment of the necessary modern material and technical base. Finally, the educational institution will create new departments and abolish a number of existing ones.



On May 9, Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, witnessed a large-scale campaign “Immortal Regiment” dedicated to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. According to the press service of the Ministry of Defense, the event was participated by about 5,000 people who marched through the city center, along the Tauelsizdik avenue to the monument “Otan korfaushylar.” Worth recalling, this is the second such action in the Kazakh capital; the first took place a year ago, on 8 May. On that day, about 1,500 people walked through the streets of Astana.



Tajik President Emomali Rahmon congratulated the citizens of the Republic on Victory Day, as reported by the official website of the head of state. In his address on the occasion of this significant event, he noted that May 9 is a historic date, a triumph of justice, the victory over fascism and over the world evil. According to him, the war left its mark on each family; it was participated by hundreds of thousands of Tajiks who showed a “truly unprecedented heroism.”



On May 8, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Uzbekistan hosted a reception for veterans of war and labor front, which was dedicated to the 71th anniversary of the Great Victory over Fascism. While delivering the opening speech during the event, Russian Ambassador to Uzbekistan Vladimir Tyurdenev said, “Today's date is largely facilitating development and preservation of the special relations existing between Russia and Uzbekistan.


On May 7, Kyrgyzstan witnessed the opening of the International Tourism Fair “Issyk-Kul ITF 2016” on the coast of the famous alpine lake Issyk-Kul. As part of the event, the grand opening of the tourist holiday season took place in the cultural and ethnic complex “Ruh Ordo” in the city of Cholpon-Ata, which is the actual resort capital of Kyrgyzstan. In the territory of Khorezm Province of Uzbekistan, works are underway to restore and conserve the monuments related to one of the most ancient cities of Central Asia, Khazarasp. According to local media, specialists are working on preservation of the city fortress, which is a “priceless monument of Uzbek history.” In order to popularize this unique city, there was launched a project to build a tourist complex in Xazorasp District and improve the adjacent territory.
