Turkmenistan has celebrated the 72nd anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The main events in the framework of the celebration were held in the territory of the memorial complex “Halk hakydasy” (People's Memory) in Ashgabat. There took place the ceremony of laying flowers to the monument “Baky şöhrat” (Eternal Glory), which commemorates the Turkmen soldiers killed in the Great Patriotic War.

Kyrgyzstan has celebrated the Victory Day, the 72nd anniversary of the end of the Great Patriotic War. All across the republic, celebrations were held, including organization of concerts. The march of the “Immortal Regiment” once again walked through the major settlements of the country. This year, more than 50,000 residents of different nationalities, ages and religions took part in the march. In Bishkek alone, over 40,000 people participated in the march, according to the preliminary estimates.

President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has suggested to prohibit women on the legislative level from “completely covering themselves with black clothes.” As reported by the press service of the head of state, this happened during the meeting of Nazarbayev with representatives of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of the republic. On April 16, more than 5,000 people took part in the Easter service at the Holy Dormition Cathedral in the Uzbek capital. Hierodeacon Mikhail (Stolyarov), the spokesman for the Uzbek and Tashkent dioceses, reported this information to journalists. According to the established tradition, the Holy Fire was distributed to believers, having been brought in special lamps from Tel Aviv by a special flight. The Holy Fire was delivered by the head of the Central Asian metropolitan district, metropolitan of Uzbekistan and Tashkent Vikenty.

Mirziyoyev familiarized himself with the progress of implementation of the project for establishment of an international research center on its base. As reported by the press service of the head of state, the new center will study the scientific and spiritual heritage of both Imam Bukhari and other thinkers and scholars of the East.

At present, the government of Uzbekistan is discussing the possibility of reviving the Baysun Spring festival, which used to be held in Surkhandarya Province. As reported by local publications, in 2001 Baysun District was included in the UNESCO list of masterpieces of the intangible and oral heritage of the mankind, due to the unique national way of life that can be observed here. In 2002, the first Baysun Spring festival was held here.

In the near future, the first golf club in Turkmenistan will be opened in the southwestern part of Ashgabat. It will be located in a new park on an area of 70 hectares. The park itself has a total area of about 630 hectares, and its zone will stretch from the Tehran street of to the Atamurat Niyazov prospect. According to the local media, considering the uniqueness of the terrain, it's planned to use the most modern design and architectural-planning solutions in the park.

The recent contest was participated by experts in foreign languages who arrived from all universities of the country. This time, the students competed with each other not only in the knowledge of the traditional Russian and English languages; they also demonstrated their levels of knowledge of Chinese and Japanese.

By 2025, Kazakhstan will switch to using the Roman letters in its alphabet, replacing with it the current Cyrillic alphabet. President Nursultan Nazarbayev instructed the government to draw up the schedule for such a transition, as reported by local mass media on April 12. “After appropriate consultations with representatives of the public and scientists, it is necessary to develop a single standard of the new Roman-type alphabet and graphics by the end of 2017.

As reported by the press-service of the President, Atambayev's greetings were read out on the central square of Bishkek by chief of the presidential apparatus Sapar Isakov. Worth recalling, Navruz is celebrated in all the Central Asian countries as the actual onset of astronomical spring.
