In January-May 2017, Kazakhstan demonstrated a GDP growth rate of 4.1 percent. Minister of National Economy Timur Suleimenov reported this information on June 13, while delivering a speech at the government meeting. “The statistical information for the five months of 2017 has been released. The dynamics of the GDP growth rate has been quite positive. In particular, the growth was 4.1 percent as compared to the same period of 2016,” the minister said. In his words, the production industry demonstrated the most dynamic growth rate (7.8 percent) during the reporting period.

In Osh, the largest city of the southern part of Kyrgyzstan, a new enterprise specializing in milk processing have started its work. According to the press service of the government of the republic, the commissioning of the milk processing plant “Osh Ak-Sut” resolves the issue of the sale of dairy products from farmers in the three south regions of the country: Batken, Osh and Jalal-Abad. In addition, the newly created enterprise permanently employs 40 local residents.

As of the beginning of 2017, Kazakhstan had a total of 72 idle enterprises that had been put into operation in the framework of the Industrialization Map. By the beginning of June, about 90 percent of these facilities started their work. Minister for Development and Investments of Kazakhstan Zhenis Kasymbek made this statement during a meeting with the population on June 12. According to him, 19 of the newly launched enterprises are stably loaded for more than 50 percent of their capacity.

During the first five months of 2017, the factories of the Turkmenbashi oil refinery complex in the cities of Seydi and Turkmenbashi (Turkmenistan) fulfilled the plan for the supply of oil products by 103.5 percent and processed over 2.7 million tons of oil. In physical terms, the volume of oil refining exceeded the target figure by 92,000 tons. Since the beginning of 2017, the company produced approximately 842,000 tons of gasoline of all brands, about 835,000 tons of diesel fuel and 67,400 tons of liquefied gas. All these figures are higher than the planned level of production.

During the first five months of 2017, Kyrgyzstan's GDP grew by 6.8 percent as compared to the same period of 2016 and amounted to about KGS153 billion in monetary terms. Press Secretary of the National Statistics Committee Boris Arabaev reported these figures on June 9. According to him, in January-May 2017, the volume of GDP (without taking into account the enterprises engaged in the development of the republic's largest gold deposit “Kumtor”) amounted to KGS136 billion, which is 2.9 percent more than the figure for January-May 2016.
