Chinese President Xi Jinping starts his Central Asian tour (from September 3 to September 13) in Turkmenistan, according to Turkmen government.

According to the report, preparations are underway in Ashgabat for the upcoming state visit of the Chinese president on September 3-4.

A large spectrum of issues concerning further development of intergovernmental relations will be put on the agenda of high level Turkmen-Chinese negotiations in Ashgabat.


Japan logged a trade deficit of 1.02 trillion yen (10.2 billion dollars) in July, the 13th consecutive month of loss, amid the yen's fall and growing fossil fuel imports, dpa reported Monday.

Overall imports jumped 19.6 per cent to 6.99 trillion yen, making the ninth straight month of year-on-year rises, while exports grew 12.2 per cent to 5.96 trillion yen for the fifth straight month of increases compared to the same periods last year, the Finance Ministry said in a preliminary report.


A magnitude-6 earthquake jolted wide areas of north-eastern Japan on Sunday, the Meteorological Agency said, dpa reported.

No tsunami warning was issued and there were no immediate reports of injuries, dead or damage.

The agency said the quake struck at 12:29 pm (GMT 0328) and was centred off the Miyagi prefecture at a depth of 50 kilometres.


The Chinese government in a statement once again underlined its opposition to the US-engineered unilateral sanctions imposed against Iran, IRNA reported.

The Chinese government pointed to the recent sanctions passed in the US Senate against Iran, saying the US cannot force other countries to accept its unilateral sanctions imposed on a third country like Iran.


Iran has ordered 315 coaches for metro lines from one of the Chinese companies, Tasnimnews reported with reference to the deputy head of Iranian Committee for Transportation and Fuel Management Amir Jafarpour.

Jafarpour noted that the coaches will be put in commission in the cities of Isfahan, Shiraz and Tabriz.

This order will be paid out of the funds that were to be obtained by Iranian side from the sale of oil to China.
