According to a joint declaration on the further development and intensification of bilateral relations of a strategic partnership signed by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Uzbek President Islam Karimov, China and Uzbekistan are to bring bilateral trade up to $5 billion by 2017.

According to the document, the two countries' desire to further intensify the strategic partnership, mutual interest and political will give even more dynamism to the practical cooperation in all fields of cooperation.


Kyrgyzstan and China signed an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the area of the construction and operation of Kyrgyzstan-China gas pipeline, reported on Wednesday.

The agreement was signed within the framework of the state visit of Chinese president Xi Jinping to Kyrgyzstan.

The capacity of the pipeline is not announced.

Earlier it was reported that China and Turkmenistan agreed to construct the fourth line of Turkmenistan-China pipeline.

The main source of gas that will go from Turkmenistan to China will be Galkynysh gas field.


The Export-Import Bank of China will deliver a loan worth $165.6 million to Uzbekistan for the modernisation of the Angren thermal power plant in the Tashkent region, a source in government circles told Trend on Monday.

According to the source, an agreement was signed between the Chinese Export-Import Bank and the Industrial and Construction Bank of Uzbekistan (Uzpromstroybank) during Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Tashkent on Monday.

The funds are delivered over a period of 20 years, including a five-year grace period.


During his official visit in Japan that starts on September 11, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will hold negotiations with Emperor Akihito and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and will meet with some leaders of major Japanese companies, Turkmen Dovlet Khabarlary (TDH) State News Service statement said on Wednesday.

"That will mark a new milestone in the history of the Turkmen-Japanese business partnership, in front of which, considering the existing mutual interest and complementarity of national economies, promising prospects open up," the statement said.


Chinese president Xi Jinping, who was on a state visit to Turkmenistan (September 3-4), invited his Turkmen counterpart Gurbalguly Berdimuhamedov to pay a state visit to China, a message from the Turkmen government said on Thursday.

"President Xi Jinping invited Turkmenistan's president to pay a state visit to the People's Republic of China at any convenient time," the message said.

Ashgabat and Beijing recently adopted a joint declaration on establishing a strategic partnership between each other.


Japan said Tuesday that it would spend over 40 billion yen (400 million US dollars) to contain the leakage of contaminated water at the crippled Fukushima nuclear power plant, Kyodo News Agency informed, dpa reported.

The emergency spending will come from reserve funds under the fiscal 2013 budget, unnamed government sources quoted by Kyodo said.

The severity of the leaks was raised to level 3 last week after plant operator Tokyo Electric Power Co said about 300 tons of highly contaminated water was found to have leaked from a storage tank.


A strong earthquake struck wide areas of north-eastern and eastern Japan on Wednesday, the Meteorological Agency said, dpa reported.

No tsunami warning was issued and there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.

The agency said the magnitude-6.9 quake struck at 9:19 am (GMT 0019), and was centred off Torishima, 600 kilometres south of Tokyo, at a depth of 400 kilometres.

Some $7500 worth of nonstandard Chinese goods have been detained by Tehran Standards and Industrial Research Office in the capital's customs, head of Tehran's Standards and Industrial Research Office Moslem Bayat said, Moj news agency reported.

The detained goods including scales, video recorders and adaptors which have been imported during the last two months from China , the report said.


Turkey is holding negotiations with China and South Korea on the implementation of a project for the construction and modernisation of $12 billion worth of Thermal Power Plants, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz said, the Sabah newspaper reported on Friday.
