The Government of Uzbekistan fully supports the projects on the use of the Amu Darya and Syr Darya water resources (those are the two major rivers of Central Asia) that were compiled within the framework of the UN conventions. According to Deputy Foreign Minister Anvar Nasyrov, the Uzbek side is ready to participate in their discussion. In his words, the United Nations recently circulated the drafts of its two conventions on the Syr Darya and the Amu Darya, which will create a legal framework for constructive cooperation in the water sector between the countries of the region.

As an experiment, solar panels have been installed on the roofs of five bus stops in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana. The purpose of this pilot project is to unload the city's electric grids through the energy savings obtained from alternative sources. “Solar batteries installed on the roofs of bus stops accumulate daylight, which allows to light such stops at night without having to connect them to external power networks. Such a power unit can accumulate almost 800 watts a day,” the press service of the city administration of Astana reported.

This week, Uzbekistan intends to increase the state shares invested in the authorized capitals of commercial banks by $500 million in aggregate. This will be done in accordance with the decree signed several days ago by the president of the republic, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. This decision was made with a view to improving the financial stability of the national banking system and further supporting the process of capitalization of commercial banks, which will allow them to expand their participation in financing many investment projects and in supporting the entrepreneurship.

The lower chamber of the Kazakh parliament (the Majilis) has approved the ratification of the protocol, according to which Kyrgyzstan will receive the first tranche of the previously planned assistance (amounting to $100 million). Worth recalling, the parliament had approved the ratification of an agreement for the provision of the specified amount to the neighboring state. This assistance will be provided to the Kyrgyz side for implementation of the set of measures envisaged in the framework of the Road Maps for the Accession of Kyrgyzstan to the EEU.

The upper chamber of the Kazakh parliament (the Senate) has passed a law on the Prosecutor's Office, which cuts down the grounds for prosecutor's inspections. According to the Prosecutor General, Zhakip Asanov, the tasks and principles of the work of the prosecutor's office remain the same as before: observing the rule of law and protecting the rights of citizens. However, general supervision will not be unlimited now. It will have three forms: verification, analysis and evaluation of legal acts. According to him, there will be no more endless inspections.
