In Moscow, the presidents of Russia and Kyrgyzstan, Vladimir Putin and Almazbek Atambaev, signed a Declaration on strengthening strategic partnership and allied relations between the two countries. The signing ceremony took place following the state visit of A. Atambayev to Russia and his meeting with the head of the Russian state. Both sides of the agreement reaffirmed their intentions to further develop the strategic partnership and to continue the coordination of their foreign policy activities.

Russia has written off $240 million of Kyrgyzstan's debt. This was done in accordance with the document signed by the head of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, Anton Siluanov, and the Minister of Finance of Kyrgyzstan, Adylbek Kasymaliev. Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, has seen the completion of construction of a new large canning plant that will export its products: primarily to Russia and other EEU countries. In 2016, the revenue part of the republican budget of Kazakhstan was KZT7.7 trillion, which exceeded the 2015 indicator by 24 percent. Finance Minister Bakhyt Sultanov voiced these figures while delivering a speech at the joint session of the chambers of the Kazakh parliament on June 19.
