Ashgabat hosting a two-day regional workshop with the participation of the United Nations, dedicated to the coordination of international efforts to combat drug trafficking, state information agency Turkmen Dovlet Khabarlary said today.

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev appointed Yerlan Idrisov as foreign minister, presidential press service reported on Friday.

"To appoint Yerlan Idrisov as foreign minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, dismissing him as ambassador of Kazakhstan to the United States," the report says.

By another presidential decree, former Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Kazykhanov was dismissed and appointed as presidential aide.

The Tajik government will sign about 12 loan and grant agreements with international financial institutions this year, Avesta.tj reported Tuesday.

The total amount of the agreements will hit 831 million somoni or $175 million.

Over 80 percents of the sum will be directed to the implementation of investment projects.
About 60 percents of these agreements will be signed in the second half of the year.

Most of the projects, expected to be implemented within these loans and grants, will cover Tajikistan's transport, agriculture and financial sector.

Kazakh state-owned enterprise Kazaeronavigatsia and the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) has signed an agreement on information management services, the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Kazakhstan said on Tuesday.

'This document will allow Kazakhstan to expedite the removal of the Kazakh airline from the European Union blacklist where they were included in 2009 by an ICAO audit', the report said.

The Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs was founded in Ashgabat, with the participation of 300 delegates representing business organisations all over the country, the Turkmen government said on Tuesday.

Creation of a new party was made possible by the adoption earlier this year of the Turkmen law 'On political parties'.

As the session began, rules of the Congress were defined, as was its management team, the Secretariat and board members were elected.

A special operation to catch criminals, suspected of the attack on a police patrol, is carried out in Almaty, a source in the Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan told Trend.

Police completed a special operation against the individuals suspected of a policeman murder in Kazakh city of Almaty, Intefax-Kazakhstan reported with the reference to a witness.

"The special operation has been completed. We heard 25-30 shots and explosions but now there is no more of them. Police said all the suspects had been killed by a sniper. According to the police, four to six suspects were killed," the source said.

According to the source, residents of a building were evacuated early in the morning, under the pretext of the exercise.

Lawyers of border guard Vladislav Chelakh suspected of killing 15 people in Kazakhstan will appeal for substitution of investigators working on the case, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported with the reference to lawyer Vasily Rezvan.

"Today we will appeal to the Prosecutor General, because all our appeals to the Chief Military Prosecutor had not been heard. We ask the Attorney General to conduct an official investigation on testimonies given under pressure," Rezvan said on Friday at the press conference in Almaty.

Karaganda Military Investigation Department of the Kazakh Interior Ministry has filed a criminal case against Senior Lieutenant Mirgali Khadyrov under Part 3 of Article 24, paragraph "a" of Part 2 of Article 96 of the Criminal Code on "attempted murder" on a shoot-out in one of the military units in Priozersk, Military Prosecutor's Office told Trend on Monday.
