Turkey has been waiting 50 years for accession to the EU, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said during his official visit to Finland, TRT Haber TV channel reported on Wednesday.

According to Erdogan, despite the fact that Turkey beats some European countries in economic development, double standards are held against Turkey.

He also stressed that Ankara has done everything necessary for accession.

Earlier, Turkish President Abdullah Gul said it is possible that Turkey will not want to be an EU member.


Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, by invitation of US Secretary of State John Kerry, is expected to pay an official visit to Washington on Nov. 18 for talks on bilateral relations and regional developments.


Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has described the prospects for further bilateral relations between Ankara and Tehran as "very positive", PressTV reported.

According to him, more than 100,000 people were killed during the Syrian crisis and this must be stopped as soon as possible.


Turkey's ambassador to Cairo, who was recalled to Ankara due to deteriorating Turkish-Egyptian relations, will return to Egypt today, Hürriyet newspaper reported on Wednesday.

Ambassador Huseyin Avni Botsali was recalled from Cairo on August 16 for consultations. In response, Egypt recalled its Ambassador to Ankara Abdurrahman Salahaddin.
