Egypt's President Mohammed Morsi said Israel's "aggression" against Gaza would end "today, Tuesday" and Egyptian-mediated efforts will produce "positive results" in several hours, the official MENA news agency reported.

"The farce of the Israeli aggression will end today, Tuesday, and the efforts to reach a ceasefire between the Palestinians and Israelis will produce positive results within a few hours," it quoted him as saying.

Israeli forces demolished a home in East Jerusalem on Tuesday on the pretext that it was built without a permit, Wafa news agency reported.

Ahmed al-robi, adviser of the Presidential Office for Jerusalem Affairs, told Wafa that the home in Khillet al-Ain, near al-Tur, belonged to Tareq al-Arameen.

In May, a home under construction in the Mount of Olives was demolished by Israeli bulldozers without any prior warning. The owner, Samih Idris, was also fined by the Jerusalem municipality.

A Palestinian rocket fired from the Gaza Strip struck a house in southern Israel on Monday, causing damage but no injuries, and Israeli officials quickly warned of a tough response to the latest surge in violence Today`s Zaman reported.

The rocket hit the town of Netivot, ending a brief overnight lull to three days of fighting, which has left six Palestinians dead, including four civilians, and 40 wounded. Eight Israelis have also been wounded in the cross-border attacks.

Israeli tanks fired across the border into Syria on Monday, with the Israeli military saying a Syrian mobile artillery battery had suffered a direct hit, reported dpa.

The shelling was in response to a Syrian mortar shell that had landed in the occupied Golan Heights on Sunday. A statement from the Israeli military said Israel had filed a complaint with the UN forces operating in the area, stating that "fire emanating from Syria into Israel will not be tolerated and shall be responded to with severity."

A professional Iranian hacker has been arrested in Iran after hacking into over 1,000 foreign websites, most of which were U.S. and Israeli, tabnak website reported.

Iran's South Khorasan province's cyber police head Colonel Gholamreza Hosseini said that the police successfully managed to detain the hacker responsible for attacks through Facebook.

The interrogation revealed that among the websites damaged by the hacker, was the website of Iran's National Television Network (IRIB).

Israeli gunfire killed a 13-year-old boy in the southern Gaza Strip Thursday, Palestinian medical officials and witnesses said, dpa reported.

The witnesses said an Israeli ground force, backed by tanks and bulldozers entered an area near the border with Israel, east of the southern Gaza town of Khan Younis and exchanged fire with militants, who were stationed near local residents' homes.

The Israeli force was backed up by helicopters, who opened heavy fire on the militants, the witnesses said.

Presidents of Russia and the United States shoulder responsibility for the cause of global peace, Israel's President Shimon Peres said Thursday at a meeting with Putin, Itar-Tass reported.

"A great burden of responsibility rests on your shoulders and the shoulders of the reelected U.S. President," Peres said addressing Putin. "Whatever the arguments /between Russia and the U.S. may be, there is responsibility of a higher order and it concerns the destiny of entire humankind."

Peres, who was born in 1923 called Putin and Barack Obama "two very young people".

Israeli soldiers Thursday night discovered a huge tunnel filled with explosives under the security fence between Israel and the southern Gaza Strip, Xinhua reported.

Speaking with reporters in a conference call not long after the discovery, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson Lt. Col. Avital Leibovich said troops from an engineering battalion were working 1-to-200 meters in a restricted area cleared on the Gaza side of the fence, when a large explosion occurred, exposing the tunnel.

Israel is preparing to counter a Palestinian bid for enhanced United Nations status later this month, the AFP news agency has reported.

"Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman convened Israel's 27 ambassadors in Europe for an urgent meeting this week in Vienna," to discuss the Palestinian bid, foreign ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor told AFP on Tuesday.

"The ambassadors will seek to define a diplomatic course with the Europeans intended to counter this initiative and to this end Lieberman will go to Vienna," he added.
