Preparations for Iranian president Hassan Rouhani's visit to New York are underway. Whether this visit will take place or not depends on the decision of Iranian president, the country's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said, Tasnimnews reported on Monday.

According to the report, Iranian president Rouhani will visit New York to attend the next session of UN General Assembly. Iran's ex-president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad attended each meeting of the UN General Assembly in New York.


Iran exported 10.512 million tons of mineral products worth 1.093 billion dollars in the first four months of t he current calendar year, which started March 21.

The figures show 35 and 16 per cent increase in terms of value and weight compared to the same period of time previous year, the Tasnim News Agency reported.

The mentioned amount accounts for 40.7 per cent of the country's total minerals exports goal in the current year.

Iran aims to export 2.7 billion dollars worth of minerals by the end of the current calendar year (March 20, 2014).


Iranian Foreign Minister Momammad Javad Zarif held phone talks with Sartaj Aziz, advisor to Pakistani Prime Minister, IRNA reported.

The sides reportedly discussed the Syrian issue, as well as international and regional issues.

Both sides agreed that the Syrian problem must be solved through negotiations and political solutions, as military solutions are unacceptable.

Zarif said that if foreign forces attack Syria, this would affect the whole region.


Navy Commander of Azerbaijan Vice Admiral Shahin Sultanov, together with a delegation, will make an official visit to Iran, told Trend Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohsen Pakayin.

The visit, initiated due to invitation of the Navy Commander Rear Admiral of Iran Habibullah Seyyar, starts today and will last 3 days, the ambassador said.

According to Pakayin, the development of military relations between two countries, including the security of the Caspian Sea will be discussed in the frameworks of the visit.


Iranian president Hassan Rouhani has established a working group to tackle the issue of saving the Urmia lake, the official website of Iranian president reported.

According to the report, after the cabinet meeting, Rouhani spoke to journalists, where he made the remarks regarding the lake Urmia issue.

"As I've promised people before, I established an Urmia lake-saving work group, which will be headed by country's energy minister,Hamid Chitchian," Rouhani said.

According to the report, after the cabinet meeting, Rouhani spoke to journalists and said that a special decision has been made regarding clearing the staple goods from customs.

Rouhani also expressed hope that during the following months, people would not be facing any problems regarding staple goods.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani appointed Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi as the head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, IRNA reported.

From 1997 to 2005 Salehi served as Iran's permanent representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency, the IAEA.

Salehi served as vice president and head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran from 2009 to 2010.

Ex-President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad appointed him as minister of foreign affairs on January 30th, 2011.


Iran's foreign ministry has called on all sides involved in the recent bloody conflict in Egypt to exercise restraint and to help to end the escalating violence unleashed after the army's overthrow of Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi.

The recent incidents may lead to an internal war in Egypt. This situation will not be in favour of civilians. The Foreign Affairs Ministry of Islamic Republic of Iran warns about dangerous consequences of this situation in the region and stresses that it is necessary to stop these incidents as soon as possible, the foreign ministry's statement said.


Iran doesn't have any official information on whereabouts of Iranian-born Briton Abbas Yazdanpanah Yazdi, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Araqchi said, Fars news agency reported.

Abbas Yazdanpanah Yazdi, 44, disappeared from his office in Dubai in June, and has been missing since.

Relatives and friends of Yazdi, say they believe he has been smuggled out of the UAE to Iran.

"We do not have any information on him," Araqchi said. "Iran even co-operated with UAE, and asked to provide some information on the case."
