The presence of external forces in the Caspian region could be a threat to the regional countries. Iran stands against the presence of external forces in the Caspian Sea. None of the Caspian littoral countries feels this threat, commander of the Iranian Border Police Hussein Zulfugari told Trend on Tuesday during his visit to Baku.

"Tehran sees no threat in the Caspian Sea," he said. "The security of the region must be ensured by the countries themselves.


The new government in Iran has withdrawn all crucial oil and gas concessions that had been promised to India by its predecessor, the Indian Express reported.

Iran's Oil minister Namdar Bijan Zangeneh, reportedly told Indian ambassador D P Srivastava on September 1 that Tehran would not accept the entire payment for crude oil imported by India in rupees as agreed in July.

India was banking on 100 percent rupee payment for Iranian crude to cut its forex outflow.


Oil ministry plans to revise contracts in order to increase the recovery rate of the country's active oil and gas fields, the Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said.

"Iran's current gas output level is not satisfactory," the IRNA News Agency quoted Zanganeh as saying.

"We can't increase the volume of gas production or imports, so the only option available is to increase the output of liquid fuel to meet domestic demands," he added.

"With long-term plans we can increase the country's gas output," Zanganeh said.


Authorities at Iran's Bandar Abbas port demanded $500,000 from India to release the tanker which was carrying crude from Iraq, the Times of India reported.

Indian tanker Desh Shanti has been detained by Iran several weeks ago. Iran claimed to have detained the ship because of environmental concerns. Tehran authorities conveyed to India that the ship was polluting Iranian waters.


Former president of Iran, Hashemi Rafsanjani has met with Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and asked him to release two of country's opposition leaders, Saham News reported.

Mohammadtaqhi Karroubi, the son of jailed opposition leader Mehdi Karroubi said that Khamenei, during his talk with Rafsanjani, said that the country's National Security Council should look into this issue.


A center for treating the aftereffects of various nuclear, chemical and radioactive incidents, has been established in Iran's Isfahan province, IRNA reported.

The center would function for both men and women.

This is the first time such a center has been established in Iran.

"The facility has been established due to spread of chemical and nuclear industry in Iran's Isfahan province," Deputy rector of Isfahan Medical University, Mohsen Moslehi said.


The policy of U.S. does not care about human lives, Iran's Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said at the meeting with members of country's Assembly of experts, Mehr news agency reported.

Khamenei was speaking about possible military actions from the U.S. on Syria.

"The U.S. makes a mistake with Syria, and both the U.S. and Western states will get hurt if they launch an attack on Syria," Khamenei said.

Some Western countries as well as Turkey have already supported intervention in Syria following another escalation of the situation there.


The U.S. and other western states are causing crisis on four key issues in the region, Deputy Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Hossein Salami said, Fars news agency reported.

Salami outlined the mentioned four key issues as - Islam, energy, geopolitics and security of Israel.

He went on to note that the U.S. is creating a structurized strategy on these four issues in the region.

Speaking about the Syrian crisis, Salami underscored that military solutions are not the way to solve the issue.


Tehran and Bern on Tuesday stressed the need for bolstering peaceful and diplomatic efforts to end the crisis in the region, including the ongoing bloodshed in crisis-hit Syria, Fars news reported.

The latest regional developments were discussed in a meeting between Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian and the senior Swiss delegation headed by Director-General of Swiss Foreign Ministry for the Middle-East Affairs Wolfgang Amadeus Brulhart.


The U.S. has tried several methods to overthrow Assad, however none of these methods worked, Iranian IRGC's Quds forces commander, Major General Ghassem Soleimani said, Fars news agency reported.

Soleimani made the remarks at Iran's Assembly of experts today.

"The U.S. is not concerned about democracy in Egypt, human rights in Syria and nuclear issue in Iran," Soleimani said. "It's main target is to collapse the line of resistance."

He went on to note that Iran will support Syria till the end, adding that Syria is the frontline of resistance against Israel.
