Iranian delegation headed by country's deputy Foreign minister Abbas Araqchi has today morning left for Geneva, Fars news agency reported on Nov. 6.

The Iranian side has already arrived in Geneva for talks with P5+1 group on Iran's nuclear program.

The U.S. and its Western allies suspect Iran of developing a nuclear weapon - something that Iran denies. The Islamic Republic has on numerous occasions stated that it does not seek to develop nuclear weapons, using nuclear energy for medical researches instead.


Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Tuesday that Iran and China should plan to expand cooperation based on long-term goals, IRNA reported.

Larijani, who is on a visit to China, in a meeting with a senior member of China's State Council Yang Jiechi hailed economic relations between the two countries, calling for promotion of bilateral ties in all fields.

Iran will never forget China's help amid unilateral Western sanctions, Larijani said, urging both countries to remove certain obstacles on the way of boosting bilateral ties through dialogue.


Iranian deputy Interior Minister will visit Pakistan to pursue the Saravan terror attack issue, Iranian Foreign Ministry's spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said, Iranian State IRINN TV reported.

Fourteen Iranian border guards were killed on Friday night and six wounded in a terrorist attack in the border city of Saravan in the country's south-eastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan . Three border guards were also taken hostage by the assailants.

Iran has delivered an official note of protest to Pakistan's chargé d'affaires in Tehran, Afkham said today at the weekly press conference in Tehran.


Britain lifted a production ban on the huge Rhum North Sea gas field, co-owned by BP and the Iranian Oil Company, to prevent any damage to the environment and the field after it shut in 2010 due to EU sanctions on Iranian firms, Reuters reported.

The energy ministry said on Tuesday it was allowing the restart to prevent permanent damage to the high-pressure, high-temperature field, which was not designed to remain shut permanently.

Larijani's remarks came in response to the conditions that came from the US officials regarding the upcoming Nov. 23 Geneva 2 conference on Syrian conflict.


Iran's Minister of Labor, Cooperative and Welfare Ali Rabiei held a meeting with Brazil's Minister of Social Security Garibaldi Alves Filho.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Third Global Conference on Child Labor in Brasilia, the Mehr News Agency reported.

During the meeting the two ministers agreed to start examining a joint project to boost welfare programs in the both countries.

Rabiei also stressed that Iran considers combating child labor as a religious and moral duty.

"Children under 15 are not allowed to work in Iran," he said.


Swiss Foreign Minister Didier Burkhalter is to meet with Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif, IRNA reported.

Zarif, who is heading Iran's nuclear negotiating team, arrived in Geneva on Monday afternoon to attend the new round of talks between Tehran and Group 5+1.

The talks start on Tuesday and end on Wednesday.

According to reports, Burkhalter is to meet with Zarif on Wednesday.

Burkhalter has expressed optimism concerning results of the talks between Iran and Group 5+1 on Monday.


It is expected that the visit of Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif to Azerbaijan will take place after the presidential election, Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohsen Pak Ayin told Trend.

According to Pak Ayin, the Iranian Foreign Minister will arrive in Baku to attend the next meeting of the intergovernmental commission which will discuss cooperation in economic, trade and humanitarian spheres.

The ambassador said at the moment diplomats are to determine the time of the next commission meeting.


Iranian president Hassan Rouhani said that he did not agree or a short meeting with Barack Obama, although prior to his going to NY, the U.S. officials contacted him 5 times, asking for a meeting with Obama, Tasnim news agency reported.

"They asked for a meeting with Barack Obama, but I refused," Rouhani told journalists after the meeting of cabinet of ministers.

Rouhani went on to say that during his visit to New York, he wanted to explain the rights of Iranian people and say that sanctions against Iran are illegal.


Iranian President Hassan Rouhani says the Group of 77 (G-77) and the Non-aligned Movement (NAM) can contribute significantly to international equations, Iranian Press TV reported.

"In the current global situation, groups like the G-77 and NAM can play a constructive role in global equations," Rouhani said in a Tuesday meeting with Fijian Prime Minister Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama on the sidelines of the 68th annual session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Iran currently holds the rotating presidency of NAM, while Fiji chairs the G-77.
