The case of a video named "jihad", spread in the internet, was solved a month ago, Georgian Interior Minister Irakli Garibashvili said on Tuesday.

"Briefing on the subject will be held at the Interior Ministry on Thursday," - Garibashvili said.

A few months ago, a video named "Jihad against Georgian forces in Afghanistan" was posted on Youtube. Video contained threats against Georgian troops involved in ISAF mission.


A meeting of the regional technical groups on realization of the Action Plan on confidence-building measures and the development of regional infrastructure within the framework of Istanbul process on Afghanistan was held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on Tuesday under the chairmanship of the Turkmen side, Turkmen Foreign Affairs Ministry's report released by the embassy of Turkmenistan in Azerbaijan said.


Iranian Embassy in Kabul issued a statement on Monday strongly criticizing provocative articles published by Afghan 8 oclock daily against Iran, IRNA reported.

Afghanistan must undertake more economic and political reforms to ensure continued international support, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen warned Wednesday at a meeting of countries participating in the ISAF mission, dpa reported.

"There are still challenges ahead and much work to do," Rasmussen said. "To sustain our hard-won gains, further economic and political progress will also be vital."


President Hamid Karzai on Saturday urged Taliban insurgents to fight Afghanistan's enemies, an apparent reference to Pakistan after an Afghan soldier died in border clashes with the Pakistani army, dpa reported.

"Instead of killing their own people and destroying their own country, they must point their guns against places where plots are being made against Afghan prosperity and progress," Karzai told journalists in Kabul.

An Afghan soldier died this week in clashes with the Pakistani army in the east of Afghanistan, sparking anti-Pakistan protests.


Afghan security forces took on more security duties in the country and violence in heavily populated areas declined notably during the six months ending September 30, a report released Monday on progress in Afghanistan shows, dpa reported.

The status report said security improved in urban areas generally and in most parts of Afghanistan's five most populous districts, the report said.

Restoring the social and economic structures and Afghanistan's statehood can play a significant role in creating new conditions for the entire region. The third Afghan presidential elections since the fall of the Taliban in late 2001 will be held on April 5, 2014, said an official with the country's election commission on Tuesday, Xinhua reported.

"The third presidential elections will be held on April 5, 2014, " the official told Xinhua anonymously.

"The Independent Election Commission (IEC) will hold a press briefing on Wednesday morning and would announce the election calendar," she added.


Hundreds of Afghan demonstrators demanded Monday that diplomatic ties with the US and France be cut, in response to a US-made anti-Islam video and cartoons mocking the prophet Mohammed published in a French magazine, dpa reported.

"Some 500 to 1,000 people took to the streets in Keshm district of Badakhshan province, chanting anti-US and anti-France slogans," provincial spokesman Abdul Maroof Rasekh said.

He said the march in the north-west of the country was peaceful.


The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan will have less than 100,000 soldiers by the end of the year, a top NATO official said Tuesday, as the alliance prepares to withdraw all foreign combat troops in 2014, dpa reported.

"This means we will have redeployed almost 40,000 men by the end of this year," Major General Joseph Reynes, the director of operations at the Allied Joint Force Command headquarters in the Netherlands, told visiting reporters.
