Iran's Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani will pay a visit to China on October 29, Advisor to the Iranian Parliament Speaker for International Affairs Hossein Sheikh-ul-Islam said today, the Iranian news agency İLNA reported.

During the visit, Larijani will meet with the Chinese President, head and other officials of the Chinese People's Congress. China is holding petroleum that was heading to North Korea from Iran in an apparent attempt by Beijing to maintain its control over Pyongyang, sources said, the Asahi Shimbun reported.

According to Chinese sources, the petroleum was part of North Korea's contract to import about 500,000 tons of condensate, a light oil, from Iran. North Korea, seeking to diversify its energy sources, started discussions on the deal last year.

The agreement was reached with the cooperation of a major Chinese state-run petroleum company.

NATO's chief said Tuesday he hoped Turkey would keep in mind the military alliance's views as it mulls a missile defence deal with China Hurriyetdailynews reported .

Anders Fogh Rasmussen said NATO member Turkey could buy equipment from any source after Ankara raised the possibility of accepting a Chinese bid to build its first long-range anti-missile system.

"Our position is very clear. It's a national decision to decide which equipment to purchase," Rasmussen told a press conference at the close of the first day of a two-day NATO defence ministers meeting.

CPMIEC company's proposal on creating long-range missiles is more beneficial for Turkey from the economic point of view, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said before his official visit to Kosovo, TRT Haber TV channel reported today.

According to him, Ankara has evaluated all proposals in this sphere.

He also stressed that the creation of the long-range missiles in Turkey is a priority for the country.

Prime Minister said that Turkey's actions on the creation of such missiles are legitimate. The country does not consider NATO's statement on the issue important.

Kazakh Majilis (the Parliament's lower chamber) approved the loan agreement with Asian Development Bank (ADB) on construction of Western Europe - Western China international transport corridor, Majilis press-service reported on Wednesday.

According to the agreement, ADB will provide $125 million for construction of Western Europe - Western China's 36.7 kilometer section between the cities of Shymkent and Tashkent in South Kazakhstan region.

The project is scheduled to be completed by December 31, 2015.

China and Afghanistan have agreed to expand economic cooperation following the visit of the Afghan delegation to China, Deputy Minister of Public Works of Afghanistan, Ahmad Shah Wahid told Trend on Thursday.

According to him, the main topics of discussion were the purchase of equipment by Afghanistan for the construction of roads and the construction of the railway to Central Asia through Afghanistan.
