The Russian concern Gazprom has received five new investment proposals that envisage conducting joint geological exploration works in Uzbekistan. A representative of Uzbekneftegaz reported the news during the international exhibition “Global Oil & Gas Uzbekistan 2017.” According to him, Gazprom has been provided with five investment blocks in Uzbekistan for study in the framework of the agreement providing for joint geological exploration with Uzbekneftegaz.



In Uzbekistan, plans are afoot to create an enterprise for mass production of biogas plants in the territory of the free economic zone “Urgut.” It will be done jointly with a number of Chinese companies.


In early April 2017, the government of Uzbekistan signed a production sharing agreement with a consortium of investors including Altmax Holding Ltd., GPD, Uzneftegazdobycha (which is a part of the Uzbekneftegaz National Holding Company). This document provides for work on the investment block “Independence of Uzbekistan,” which will include additional exploration and development of the gas field “25 years of Independence” and the construction of a gas chemical complex in the south of Uzbekistan (in Surkhandarya Province).


During his recent visit to China, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed an agreement providing for the construction of a hydroelectric power station with an installed capacity of 15 megawatts in the territory of the Sardobin Reservoir. This hydro-structure will be built before the end of 2017. Its annual water intake will amount to 922 million cubic meters. This will allow to more effectively use the fertile lands of Djizak and Syrdarya provinces, while simultaneously increasing the yield of agricultural crops.



In 2017-2021, Uzbekistan expects an overall increase in oil production by 1.9 million tons, while natural gas production is expected to grow by 53.5 billion cubic meters. This information is reported in the materials published by the national holding company “Uzbekneftegaz” on May 17. An additional 1.1 million tons of gas condensate will be produced during the specified period.


By the end of 2017, Uzbekistan may cancel the so-called “mobile slavery.” General director of JSC “Uzbektelecom” Shukhrat Kadirov reported the news while delivering a speech at the meeting of the press club on May 17. According to him, over the last three to four months, discussions on this topic have intensified with both the regulator and the main players operating in the market.



The Government of Uzbekistan is considering the possibility of inviting two leading foreign specialists as advisors to the head of the State Tourism Development Committee. As reported by representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers, this idea arose from the successful experience of Singapore and South Korea. These countries invited foreign experts to work as ministers, and to occupy other key positions in the said departments.


While delivering a speech at the international forum “One Belt, One Road” in Beijing, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev supported the initiative of China to create the New Silk Road. According to the press service of the head of state, he also noted the importance of this forum and expressed hope for its further development and improvement.



The company “Uzagrotehsanoatholding” and the Belarusian design and technological research institute of foundry production “BELNILILIT” intend to implement a project for establishment of the first automated foundry production of agricultural machinery in the republic. As reported by head of “Uzagrotehsanoatholding” Nodir Otadionov, the Uzbek side has studied several possibilities for implementing this project. For example, the earlier plans envisaged implementing it jointly with Hanwoo (South Korea).
