According to the State Test Center, their preliminary estimates envisage that the number of applicants will be about 795,000 people. For comparison, the figure was 663,000 people in 2016. The Center states that the growing number of applicants to higher educational establishments does not assist the implementation of an effective youth policy.

The leaders of the two countries discussed the agreements reached during the visit of the delegation of the Government of India to Uzbekistan. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has approved the program for development of Uzbekistan's automobile industry in the period 2017-2021. As reported by the local mass media, the relevant resolution envisages that the production of cars in the country will increase threefold in five years, and the share of imports will decrease by 12.5 percent. In addition, the number of employees at automotive enterprises will grow by 1.2 times. Within the framework of the program, several dozens of new investment projects will be implemented. Their total value will exceed $800 million.

In 2017-2025, the government of Uzbekistan intends to attract foreign loans totaling over one billion dollars for development of the national hydropower industry. The relevant presidential decree of Shavkat Mirziyoyev approves the program of measures for development of hydropower in the republic for the period 2017-2025. In accordance with this document, it is planned to build a total of 18 hydroelectric power stations, and to modernize 14 such stations. The total cost of all these works will be $2.65 billion.

The government of the republic of Uzbekistan has approved a list of gold deposits to be transferred for development with the attraction of foreign investments. According to the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers published on June 5, the list contains 12 gold deposits. It includes the deposits of gold-sulphide and gold-quartz ores located in the territory of four regions: Navoi, Samarkand and Tashkent provinces, and the autonomous republic of Karakalpakstan. The total gold reserves of the C2 category exceed 14.5 tons in these deposits.

Uzbekistan is ready to use the mechanism that envisages applying the deprivation of citizenship to persons participating in religious extremist organizations. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev made such a statement during his trip to Andijan Province. He noted, “If we want tomorrow to be a peaceful day, we should submit proposals on depriving avid extremists of citizenship.” In addition, the head of state pointed out the mistakes of the executive authorities in resolving this matter.

This summer, a total of 1,290 children's camps will be operating in Uzbekistan. Of them, 214 camps are stationary, 936 are day camps, and 140 are classified as labor and recreation camps. According to the press service of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic, the number of children's camps in the country has increased by 140 units as compared to the 2016 figure. As a result, at least 284,350 children will have the opportunity to get well and relax this summer, which is 7,100 more than the 2016 figure.
