Uzbekenergo State Joint Stock Company (JSC) has announced the increase of electricity rates from April 1, 2013.

According to the company, the cost per kW/h of electricity will increase by 7.4 percent - to 112.2 soum (104.4 soum previously).

For houses equipped with electric stoves, the cost per kW / h of electricity will be increased to 56.1 soum from 52.2 soum.

The previous increase in electricity prices was undertaken in Uzbekistan in October 2012. Then the growth of electricity tariffs amounted to 7 percent.

The official exchange rate on March 22 is 2035.05 sum / $ 1.

The Uzbekenergo state joint stock company will complete the first phase of the project converting the Novo-Angren thermal power plant to a year-round coal burning type through modernisation of the Angren coal mine (Tashkent region) in the second half of 2013, a source at the company told Trend on Thursday.

"The completion of the project was postponed due to a powerful landslide that took place in the section this year delaying the upgrading of the mine. As a result, the work on this part of the project and delivery of the equipment had to be stopped," the source said.

Uzbekistan is planning to attract Korean Kepco (Korea Electric Power Corporation) to the construction of thermal power plant (TPP) with estimated cost of $ 103 million in Uchkuduk (Navoi region), a source in governmental circles told Trend on Wednesday.

According to the source, in September, Uzbekenergo State Joint-Stock Company (SJC) and Kepco signed a memorandum of cooperation in the framework of this project.

It is assumed that the power plant with installed capacity of 200 MW will be of combined type, producing electricity and heat.

Uzbekenergo has finished a project worth $468 million to build a combined cycle gas turbine at Navoi thermal power plant, the company told trend on Friday.

The energy produced in combined cycle gas turbine will be available in the network in late October.

As previously reported, the project of modernization of Navoi TPP worth $468 million includes the construction of combined cycle gas turbine with a capacity of 478 MW. The project will provide an opportunity for additional fuel savings to generate 3.4 billion kWh of electricity annually.

Uzbek state company Uzbekenergo plans to finish the construction of the first experimental wind-driven energy installation in the Central Asia with capacity of 750 kilowatt worth $3 million till the end of the year, RIA Novosti reported.

The company has already started the installation of the first part of equipment.

The installation will allow to produce about 1.28 million kilowatt of energy. The equipment for the installation was supplied by Chinese Xian Electric engineering Co. and produced by Xinjiang Goldwind.

Uzbekenergo State Joint Stock Company in early 2013 will begin modernizing the metering system of electricity in the domestic sector of Uzbekistan, Uzbekenergo chairman Batyr Teshabaev said on Tuesday during an international seminar in Tashkent.

According to the Uzbekenergo, a project worth $802 million provides for introduction of an automated system for monitoring and metering of households in all twelve regions. The project will be implemented by the end of 2015.

The Uzbek securities market's turnover as of the first half of 2012 has increased three-fold to 985.2 billion soums compared to the same period last year, the Center for Coordination and Control over the Securities Market told Trend today.
