According to the press service of the Uzbek Interior Ministry, Azizov said this visit is a consistent continuation of bilateral cooperation of the friendly countries, which received a new impetus after the recent visit of the Uzbek president to China.


By the end of 2017, Uzbekistan may cancel the so-called “mobile slavery.” General director of JSC “Uzbektelecom” Shukhrat Kadirov reported the news while delivering a speech at the meeting of the press club on May 17. According to him, over the last three to four months, discussions on this topic have intensified with both the regulator and the main players operating in the market.



Uzmobile, the national mobile operator of Uzbekistan, is launching a large-scale program to test the quality of cellular services. As reported by local media with a reference to representatives of the company, the testing procedures will be conducted with the use of mobile laboratories. Currently, Uzmobile is acquiring measuring equipment of the famous Finnish manufacturer Anite Finland. With its help, it will be possible to carry out quality control within all the present-day mobile standards: 2G, 3G, 4G, CDMA 450.



During the Q1 2017, the cellular carrier UMS installed over 150 base stations in all regions of Uzbekistan in order to ensure even more high-quality cellular communications and Internet access to the republic's population. As of today, the UMS company's subscribers are offered quality communication and Internet services within 2G, 3G, 4G and LTE networks.


The world-famous American corporation Apple and the company Unitel that operates in Uzbekistan under the brand Beeline intend to sign an agreement, which will enable the subscribers of this cellular operator to fully utilize the LTE network capabilities. As reported by the company's representatives, the 850 MHz frequencies currently used in Uzbekistan are not widely utilized in other countries of the world. That's why Apple does not open them by default on their smartphones.



On March 15, an automatic system for fixing offenses committed on the road was put into operation in the capital of Uzbekistan. A representative of the press service of the Tashkent Traffic Safety Administration reported the news. “At 115 crossings, the video surveillance cameras have been installed. They will automatically record any violations of the traffic rules by road users,” the representative of the department noted.


As pointed out, during the first stage, the cameras will record only two violations: red light running and speeding.


In accordance with the decree of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoev, the Center for Genomics and Bioinformatics will be created under the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan. The new structure will be formed on the basis of the already existing Center of Genomics and Bioinformatics. According to experts, this decision will make it possible to improve research in biotechnology and genomic breeding of wheat, potatoes, cotton and grapes. In addition, the Center will train highly skilled geneticists.



In accordance with the decree approved by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Agency for Science and Technology will be created in the country. As follows from the text of the document, the new structure will function on the basis of the governmental Committee on coordination of development of science and technology, which is subject to abolition.


In Uzbekistan, there has begun the development of a project for establishment of the Innovation Center in the republic's capital; it is designed to become a rough analogue of the world famous American Silicon Valley. As reported by the Ministry for Development of Communications and Information Technology, the Inha University in Tashkent will become the venue for the Center, as a pilot project. Over time, the project should gradually be transformed into a free economic zone where the Uzbek IT companies will focus their high-tech production.



In the near future, Uzbekistan plans to develop a comprehensive program of re-equipment and rearmament of the armed forces in 2017-2021. President Shavkat Mirziyoev made this statement in his festive address dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Armed Forces. “As a priority, we have to develop a comprehensive program for 2017-2021, which will provide for specific measures to modernize and repair the equipment, and to acquire various types of new military products,” Mirziyoev said.
