On June 6, Tashkent, hosted a poetic event dedicated to the anniversary of the birth of the great Russian poet A.S. Pushkin, as well as the Day of the Russian Language. It was participated by representatives of the creative community and national cultural centers of the capital of Uzbekistan, teachers of the Russian language and students. The chairman of the Union of Writers of Uzbekistan, Muhammad Ali, opened the event. He said in his speech, “The brilliant Russian poet is known and loved in Uzbekistan.


President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has approved the program of measures aimed at further development and improvement of the sphere of culture and art in Uzbekistan in the period 2017-2021. This document is a continuation of the reform of these areas that was launched on the initiative of the president in mid-February 2017. Then, a presidential decree established the Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan, and closed a number of large organizations that had been supporting theaters, museums and other cultural establishments.



The company “Heerim Architects” (South Korea) will develop a project for the construction of a multi-functional ice complex “Humo Arena” in Tashkent. According to the plans, this sports facility will become the first such complex in Uzbekistan. It will be put into operation as early as 2018. “Enter Engineering Pte. Ltd” (Singapore) will carry out the construction works. The customer is the company “Wind Rose” from Uzbekistan. The project will be financed at the expense of its own funds.



In Uzbekistan, plans are afoot to implement a unique project for reconstruction and restoration of buildings that are part of the historical complex “Nurillaboi” located in the city of Khiva. The resolution on the main parameters of this project was recently approved by the government of the republic. According to experts, its primary purpose is the further development of the tourist, historical and architectural potential of Khiva.


On May 29, 2017, the unique annual Children's Fashion Festival “Bolazhonlar-Shirintoylar” will open at the Tashkent Youth Creativity Palace. The event will last until June 1 inclusive. This festival has long been the main show of children's clothes in the republic. This year's program includes a number of events, such as the Fashion Industry Show of young designers, #beyoung for baby, and the Gala Fashion Show. According to the organizers of the festival, this unique project has no analogues in the world.


The 15th Festival of national dishes and cultural traditions has been held in Tashkent. The staff of foreign embassies accredited in Uzbekistan acted as chefs and cooks at the event. About 40 embassies and consulates took part in this festival; guests and visitors were both employees of diplomatic structures and residents of the capital of Uzbekistan.


On April 16, more than 5,000 people took part in the Easter service at the Holy Dormition Cathedral in the Uzbek capital. Hierodeacon Mikhail (Stolyarov), the spokesman for the Uzbek and Tashkent dioceses, reported this information to journalists. According to the established tradition, the Holy Fire was distributed to believers, having been brought in special lamps from Tel Aviv by a special flight. The Holy Fire was delivered by the head of the Central Asian metropolitan district, metropolitan of Uzbekistan and Tashkent Vikenty.


While visiting the memorial complex of Imam Bukhari, President of Uzbekistan Sh. Mirziyoyev familiarized himself with the progress of implementation of the project for establishment of an international research center on its base. As reported by the press service of the head of state, the new center will study the scientific and spiritual heritage of both Imam Bukhari and other thinkers and scholars of the East.


At present, the government of Uzbekistan is discussing the possibility of reviving the Baysun Spring festival, which used to be held in Surkhandarya Province. As reported by local publications, in 2001 Baysun District was included in the UNESCO list of masterpieces of the intangible and oral heritage of the mankind, due to the unique national way of life that can be observed here. In 2002, the first Baysun Spring festival was held here.


The holiday of Navruz, together with the cultural traditions associated with the Uzbek national dish, pilaf, have been included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. The certificates confirming this fact were awarded at the Tashkent International Business Center. The organizers of the event were the State Committee of Uzbekistan for Nature Protection, and the National Commission for UNESCO in the country.
