Turkmenistan has launched a system of mobile banking. Currently, it's being actively tested with the use of the credit and debit cards of the national payment system “Altyn Asyr.” Just like Internet banking, this system allows to pay for various services, including Internet and IPTV, to replenish the balance of a cell or home phone, to pay off a loan, and to transfer money from one card to another. Mobile banking is also convenient for searching for branches of banks and ATMs.


On April 1, 2017, Turkmenistan will refuse from using the Russian commercial satellite Yamal-401 for retransmission of the national television and radio channels. The Digital Report portal informed about this decision of the republic's authorities on March 27, citing the information it received from the Turkmen Ministry of Communications. The agency also stresses that from April 2017, the broadcasting in the country will be carried out exclusively using the Turkmen communication satellite TurkmenAlem 52°E (Turkmen Universe) in the HD format.


For the last few days, Turkmenistan has been facing problems related to access to the Internet, as reported by some media. According to “Radio Ozodlik,” 3G Internet was disconnected on June 25. The reasons for the shutdown of the World Network for more than 5 million people have not been commented upon by the authorities.


Civil aviation today is an important part of the transport system of Turkmenistan, which links not only the regions of the country, but also the country with the rest of the world. Therefore, the state airline "Turkmenhowayollary" completes park its aircraft fleet with the latest planes and helicopters of the world's leading manufacturers. The Turkmen Parliament ratified the Agreement on Cooperation in the field of hydrometeorology of the Caspian Sea, which had been previously signed by the representatives of the country. This is said in the report of the government, which also noted that the activities under this agreement were aimed at the creation and subsequent development of a regional integrated system of sharing and receiving information regarding the status of the Caspian Sea.


Representatives of Turkmenistan and Japan discussed the opportunities and prospects for joint development and production of UAVs - unmanned aerial vehicles. It happened during a scientific international conference "Innovative technologies in using renewable sources of energy", as reported by several media. According to the data presented, in case this project is implemented, the new UAVs can be used to identify the location of mineral deposits and other natural resources, drawing three-dimensional and two-dimensional digital topographic maps, as well as in agriculture.


At the end of last year, the number of Internet users in Turkmenistan has quadrupled, according to the State Information Agency of the Republic. The text of the document also says that the number of subscribers using the services of the national mobile operator "Altyn Asyr" has increased by 116 per cent, primarily due to the cut of tariffs for services provided, as well as expansion of their kinds.


On Tuesday, August 4, the Center of unmanned aerial vehicles, which is included in the structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, began its work in Turkmenistan. The national satellite communication system of the republic has been launched in Turkmenistan, as it was reported at the government meeting by the head of state Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The President, in particular, noted that the commissioning of the first telecommunications satellite would let Turkmenistan provide consumers with new types of communication services. He also instructed the heads of relevant services to fully exploit the potential of the national satellite system.
