Turkmenistan and other participants of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS) intend to develop a program of assistance to the countries situated in the Aral Sea region.


In Turkmenistan, a new action has begun within the framework of the Ashgabat 2017 project on the initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. During his familiarization with the progress of the capital's beautification in preparation for the Fifth Asian Games in Closed Rooms and Martial Arts scheduled for September 2017, he suggested that public servants of all ranks – both ordinary employees and heads of enterprises and institutions – should go to work on bicycles.


The air company “Turkmenistan” will carry out the first test flight from Ashgabat to Dushanbe and back. As reported by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Tajikistan, Chary Atayev, during the press conference in Buchanba, the flight will take place on Monday, June 12. “On this day, a delegation of Turkmenistan, including representatives of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and a number of ministries and departments, will arrive in Dushanbe on a direct flight from Ashgabat,” the Turkmen ambassador said.



Turkmenistan intends to cancel all the current social benefits related to paying for communal services. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave such an instruction to the government during the meeting in Ashgabat, as reported by local mass media. “The head of the country instructed Deputy Prime Minister Byashimyrat Khodzhamammedov to prepare proposals providing for the cancellation of all benefits. In other words, the benefits will be provided only to those who really need social assistance,” the media report.



The International Central Asian Environmental Forum “Initiative for Cooperation in the Sphere of Sustainable Development and Environmental Protection in the Central Asia Region” started its work in the capital of Turkmenistan. Ashgabat hosts this event for the first time. Its organizers are the State Committee for Land Resources and Environmental Protection and the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia.


President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a regular meeting of the State Security Council in Ashgabat. Its participants summed up the work of law enforcement and military bodies during the first five months of 2017. Turkmenistan is set to begin to recognize the documents on secondary vocational and higher education issued by foreign educational institutions. As reported by a number of local media, the procedure for recognizing such documents was approved by Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov's presidential decree. In accordance with this document, the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan is required to ensure the recognition of such documents in the prescribed manner.



On May 20, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting at the Avaza Congress Center located in the vicinity of the Turkmenbashi city on the Caspian Sea coast. They also held bilateral negotiations in a narrow format. The presidents noted the consistent development of cooperation between the two neighboring countries of the region.



President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has instructed the parliament and the State Security Council of the country to develop a program for combating bribery and corruption. According to the Turkmen president, corruption and bribery have been revealed as a result of inspections conducted in law enforcement agencies and a number of other institutions of Turkmenistan,
