As an experiment, solar panels have been installed on the roofs of five bus stops in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana. The purpose of this pilot project is to unload the city's electric grids through the energy savings obtained from alternative sources. “Solar batteries installed on the roofs of bus stops accumulate daylight, which allows to light such stops at night without having to connect them to external power networks.
