Kazakhstan plans to form a single public health service, which will focus on the prevention of diseases rather than their treatment. Minister of Health of the Republic Yelzhan Birtanov made this statement during the recent regular meeting of the government. In his words, up to 98 percent of deaths and morbidity in Kazakhstan, as well as in most countries of the world, account for non-communicable chronic diseases. The expenditures on their treatment amount to about 95-96 percent of all the healthcare expenditures.



Kazakhstan is successfully developing economic cooperation with China, as evidenced by the establishment of the Union of Chinese Entrepreneurs in Almaty. As reported by the Chinese News Agency Xinhua, the main purpose of the new association is to promote the further development of trade and economic ties between business representatives of the two countries. According to the participants of the first association of Chinese entrepreneurs, they intend to “bring the cooperation between China and Kazakhstan to a new level.”



On April 25, the Kazakh government approved a package of amendments to the current national legislation made in connection with the changes to the Constitution. In Q1 2017, the volume of retail trade in Kazakhstan amounted to KZT1.76 trillion, which exceeds the Q1 2016 indicator by 5.5 percent. This information is available on the official website of the Committee on Statistics under the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic, where the report for January-March 2017 was published recently. “During the first three months of this year, trading enterprises of the republic achieved the volume of sales of goods amounting to KZT1.03 trillion, or 14.6 percent more than during the same period of 2016,” the report says.
