The recent military coup attempt in Turkey has actualized a number of topics, which, until recently, were relegated by Russian and Kyrgyz politicians and experts from Russia and Kyrgyzstan for various reasons. The words “Orient” and “Turkey” have for many years been bringing to our minds the images of a wondrous land and wonderful life, bazaars filled with the flavors of oriental spices and exquisite oriental sweets, the famous Turkish Delight and a cup of true Turkish coffee, fashionable hotels and luxurious resorts, cheap gold and “abundant” oil. Women have been losing their heads over tanned, gently-speaking, handsome Turks, who promised so much. Everything else has always been brushed aside and moved to the background.

In 1932, on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the 1916 rebellion, the party bodies of the Central Asian Bureau of the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks issued the “Review of the archival materials on the 1916 uprising in Central Asia.” Of course, this Review could not include all the available publications and documents of the time that related to the tragic events of the early 20th century. In this publication, our attention has been drawn to the assessment the party bodies of that time gave to those bloody events.
